        dude the little wheel switch for your mirrors it has L - R keep it on L or R the middle setting is to turn on the heated function of the mirrors.. but like myself and most others we thought the - middle section was to 'lock' the mirrors but actually we ended up leaving the damn heating element turned on for well until we found out to turn it off.. which can cause your elements to burn out

              hahaha i never got an owners manual, damn non-volkswagen dealerships! lol (their looking into that)

                when I picked up my car the salesman explained the center thing to me..good thing too otherwise I woulda done like I have on other vehicles and put it in the middle to lock it.
