    Re: Countdown to Snow...

Seems this thread is dying a bit due to the lack of snow! Haha...
Anyhow, while I continue to "consider" swapping out my summers... here's some more!

Yeah I saw that, looks well kept, and not too overpriced. Wonder how many miles it has? What would be the milage to stay away from? Do the R32's have the same needs as a 1.8t? (things like timing belt, water pump, etc.)

Sorry to take this thread of course, but you asked for it with those great pics you have there.

                    Re: Countdown to Snow...

How is that an 'Alberta Car', and '1 owner'. I mean yeah, it's been imported and inspected, but it had to come from somewhere else unless he bought it new and stored in his garage until they could be insured and licensed in Canada.

If only #3 hadn't shown up a month ago I'd be all over this. Paul, I think the VR6's have less to worry about compared to a 1.8T. Timing chain around 100k I think and that's about it. They will run a very very long time as long as you do a good job with the oil changes.

Timing chains should theoretically be done at 160,000km's (100,000 miles). There are many people on vortex who have well over that mileage and haven't replaced the chain.

My guess is that it is over or nearly over the 100,000 km mark at that price. Definitely looks clean however, the devil always lies in the test drive.

Personally, I'd rather pay more to get a 1-owner low mileage .:R. But to each his own. I guess it's all about your risk tolerance.

On second thought... screw the 4-motion... perhaps all you need is a VR6 upgrade...
