Whoa Whoa Whoa!
First of all, Rob is a really good dude and he always takes care of his customers. I have had nothing but good experiences with Rob and westside automotive.
The problem with your statement is that you "herd". Maybe you should do some research first before you start bashing people or buisnesses.
Lets face it, no shop (or any buisness for that matter) is perfect. Every one makes mistakes on occasion. The difference between a good buisness and a bad one is how that buisness responds to their errors. I know for a fact (not "herd"), that Rob would correct any error without any questions asked.
Westside has been open for over 30yrs. If they were as bad as you claim, do you honestly think they would still be in buisness?
If you are looking for another good shop, check out Darsh/Dubsport. Richard is a solid dude (just like Rob).Tint sucks

Their reputation is great, keep in mind you can't make every one happy 100% all that time. they have over 30 years experience and you are concern if they are good? but yet you are inviting anybody to come and tune your brothers car?? I have 7 years of dealing with westside and i will recomend them because they are good. Your thread needs to be closed and you need to say sorry to the people/company for thrashing them.

Re: Westside????
I took my GTI there to get the led taillights installed. Rob was the only shop in the city that was willing to attempt to install them. Not only did they go above and beyond in terms of staying open after hours to finish up the install, he also got the taillights cheaper then ECStuning. Don't forget that every shop will have good and bad experiences, chances are you'll hear the bad more often then the good.

Re: Westside????
***** Rant time*****
Maybe not my place to get involved in this, but I figured I'd give my two cents being a management level dealership service employee (north american dealer) who has seen and dealt with more than my fair share of f*ck-ups both technician, service advisor, and customer caused. There is absolutely no shop out there regardless if they are a factory dealer, or independant shop that will get everything right all of the time. Alot of the time, it is the customer - service advisor communication that causes most of the issues where customers are left feeling screwed over. Everyone out there that owns and maintains a vehicle wants everything done yesterday and would like it done for free!. That is the bottom line. I certainly understand that while we all know this is the truth, most of us dont realistically expect this from any service center. To go off in a Euro forum site about a very common shop is fu$king retarded and almost makes me think this person was fishing for this kind of response, or we're dealing with someone who has no idea what they are talking about and isn't afraid to completely kill all of their personal integrity by blasting unfounded statements. I live and work in Calgary so I dont know or deal with the shop mentioned, but there is no basis for any claim, especially on a euro forum, about the effectiveness of the shop. Dealing with the public is in my opinion is the most difficult position one can take on, and when it comes to the public's money, and patience, most repair/tuner facilities are at the mercy of the greater opinion.......especially in today's automotive market. One poor decision, or accidental mistake automatically makes "us" the biggest idiots/assholes/morons/retards around. Forget the fact that there are years and years of experience, training, and practical knowledge backing why we are open to service the very people that choose to post such unfounded piss. Perhaps "dog" should retract his/her statement, think about his/her thoughts before posting, and maybe develop his or her own opinion based on actual experience, rather than hear-say and second hand information. I'd bet the bad experience this person had was probably caused by the customer rather than the shop, or this "Rob" person (again I dont know who these people are). Most problems with vehicles these days fit within the 85% of repairs performed, however there are still 15% of issues that cause shops and repair facilities fits and headaches solving. That doesn't make the tech any less compitent, and the customer usually doesn't respect the fact that regardless of the time spent, the tech is only trying to fix/mod the vehicle as best possible with the variables provided (time & money). Moral of the rant, GIVE THE SHOP/TECH'S A LITTLE BIT OF CREDIT. THEY AREN'T TRYING TO F*CK IT UP, OR TAKE FOREVER. You dont make money by taking longer than it should, or trying idea after idea to solve a problem. I think this person ( and he's not alone in this) has lost his/her grip on reality and congnative thought process.

Re: Westside????
I always love the concept of being angry at someone who is fixing your ****. Obviously you don't have the tools/knowhow to do it yourself. I work in service, just not on cars and I agree with the above statement. Modding in my opinion is done at the owners risk. There is a reason VW didn't put certain thing on cars, and they sure as hell haven't been tested to the extent that an OEM setup is.
I can't stand it when customers lose their **** at me because something went wrong, got scratched. Especially after trying to fix their own fuckups. Always a good time. Deserve a beat down with a stick, and a big one at that.

i think this is one of the biggest issues right now that makes everyone look bad. No offense to those on here that are service advisers but they seem to be the weakest link when it comes to customer satisfaction. Why dealerships employ people to be service reps when they have no prior service knowledge (or any automotive knowledge in some cases) is beyond me. As a customer I always have to bite my tongue when talking to service reps because they attempt to describe to you something they know nothing about and end up feeding you obvious bs and this leaves the customer feeling cheated and lied to.
but back to the OP's comments, you are asking the opinions of others on a certain shop but yet you seem to have pretty strong opinions (or strongly advocate your friend's opinion), so it seems that you have already jumped to conclusions about this shop?

Rob flashed my GTI's ECU with a Unitronic tune for a great price. He was very nice and helpful and I would definitely take my business again to him if I still lived in Edmonton.DJ Noble / Volkswagen Sales Consultant
