I really love the mk6 and since they screwed up my factory order I have cancelled the purchase...I have also decided to retire my rs4 because I want something faster. So I have decided on joining the AMG or M family this summer and since I have a winter beater.
Depending on how mod friendly the dealer is...any type of mod they feel that has lead to a failure can result in your warranty being void. For example; Audi claimed that my after market headlight bulb lead to a malfunction on my hid projector not leveling out and then they blamed my Stassis suspension set up. In the end I got it all fixed by providing factual information and they warrantied the parts. However, flashing your ECU back and forth from performance to stock does not remove the ability of the dealer from seeing how many times your ECU has been reflashed. Secondly, overboost codes in the ecu can be seen by the dealer as well. Items such has carbon intakes, bigger turbos, intercoolers are big hints that a car is modified...especially if your car roars when it starts. All of these things just put up red flags for dealers.
A modified car can bring you years of joy...but be prepared to deal with dealers who are not so accomidating. If you modify it...you got to pay to play. Unfortunately, I may come across a bit bitter but I can share so many horror stories on my encounters with Audi, VW, Mercedes etc.
