Congrats on the new ride! P.S. There are also other benefits to owning a manual.

I saw a candy white GTI going south on mcleod trail.. It was gorgeous! Then I remembered that the roads were sanded yesterday and I felt bad for it..

Always park with the front in first so that the carjacker will have a heck of a time finding the reverse gear.. Gives you about 5-10 minutes to call the cops while watching him figure it out...

I went from a DSG GTI to manual WRX. I have mixed feelings still on the whole thing. I've driven manuals for many years then went to twin clutch. Loved it, now I am back in a manual car. There are times when I miss the twin clutch a lot, and there are times when I am glad to be rowin' my own gears.

Yea it'd be a tough one. Driving the gti with dsg was a refreshing change from a manual in stop and go traffic and of course the dsg is far superior performance wise.

BUT there is something about a manual that I'd probably miss its just more engaging, and dont forget the $$ savings initial cost of the dsg and those expensive fluid changes every couple years.

Re: 2010 VW GTI mk6...who has one?

                Some interesting chipping info....

British tuner Superchips has a Golf GTI tuning package to rival the Golf R.

The ECU tuning being done here seems to be about more than just amping up the horsepower ratings. Superchips wants to create a more responsive engine that can make the Golf GTI improve its performance capability to a finer, measurable degree.

Peak power is boosted by 25 bhp (19 kW) and 47 lb-ft (64 Nm) of torque. But the power across the rev band is doled out to optimize flexibility, with Superchips' Bluefin ECU system adding 44 bhp (33 kW) at 4737 rpm and 53 lb-ft (72 Nm) of torque at 4450 rpm.

The Buckingham-based tuner claims that a Superchips Golf GTI weighing in at 1271 kg with a power output of 233 bhp (174 kW) and 253 lb-ft (343 Nm) comes close to matching the performance of the 1475 kg Golf R with 267 bhp (199 kW) and 258lb-ft (350 Nm). Tough to argue with that.

The Bluefin ECU remap is available for £435 (€479). The work can be done either by technicians on site or self-installed by the customer using a Bluefin handset plugged right into the ECU in the engine bay. Superchips says the process is easily done and takes only minutes.

Cool, but the R has a k04 already! A Stage 1 flash gets you ~325bhp.

New here, I bought a manual black 2 door, 18's, tech package, sunroof, jacky cloth. This is my first vdub. Really looking forward to it. I test drove the DSG and manual, had to go with manual. Should be here in 2 to weeks. Love the pics. Perfect timing for the "great" weather we are having.

Hey guys, just drove a new GTI in Calgary this week and am thinking about putting in a factory order soon (5-door, Carbon Steel, 6MT, Tech).

For those who've purchased recently, please tell me these aren't still selling for MSRP. I've got the info from Car Cost Canada, and was hoping for invoice +5% or so. Am I dreaming?

I wasn't able to get that low. But better than MSRP.

I'm suffering.... my car is in the train yard in Calgary. Not sure when i'll actually get it.

Really hope in the next day or two, but that is wishful thinking. Still needs tint and 3m.
