Re: 2010 VW GTI mk6...who has one?

Test drove a new gti today so I'll add some more fuel to fire.

Love the looks inside and out, typical top notch materials used for the interior.

Ride was sporting without being rough(unlike my ms3) , got to take some on/off ramps at speed and must say the handling was impressive, very planted and flat.

While the engine was peppy and refined it was lacking in power for this segment, the car is screaming for another 50-60hp. I would'nt say its slow especially in the first couple gears (dsg) but a little more oomph for passing or those 4th gear on ramps would be nice.

All in all a nice evolution from the mk5.

Ugh all this makes me just want to buy one.

I'd say the handling and the fit/finish are the bigger thing for me, since they are the pain to change. Adding more power could just be fun.

50-60 hp would definatelly make it fun but in those first few gears that power is useless. MS3 cuts power in those gears for that exact reason. I think 220-230 in the GTI would be just about perfect. Anything more than that would throw off the good balance that it has now.

dont forget about potential revo tunes that would probly put it right in that area

Yes most chips will give you 40-50hp so I think the aftermarket will make up for any short comings the car may or may not have, if you want to go down that road.

Borla catback system in final testing, cuts weight in half and should add a few more horses too!!

Wow that Borla exhaust fits the well so much nicer. I can imagine how good it sounds too!

Yea we all know how well these respond to a flash but some of us old guys prefer a no fuss warranty on their new vehicle. For the price this really is a great car, and aside from the slight power deficit I would be perfectly content driving it as-is.

Im pretty sure some dealerships in edmonton offer Revo softwear meaning it would still be under warranty.
either way I think they would still be a blast to drive stock

What'd you get? I'm betting on Candy White, but DSG, Nav, leather?

                                When's delivery?
