  • CAI in the winter?

I checked mine when I got home today and it was kind of crusty with slush and snow. Should I just remove the tube and slap the filter on the MAF for the winter or can I just leave it as is?

What you need to get is waterproof breathable pre-filter from www.outerwears.com. Trust me it works. I have a Neuspeed P-Flo Short Ram intake with the Outerwears pre-filter. Even though the filter does not go down behind the battery and down into the bumper it still will get some water splashes. I know this because today when I refilled my windshield washer fluid there were beads of water on the pre-filter. Say what you want I have had no problems over the last 2 winters.

I have considered this idea and actually called mopac yesterday and they have these from K&N.

My mk4 CAI sat no higher than the wheel hub and it was fine through 4 winters.

you'll be fine. as long as you're not trying to drive WOT through a lake its fine. Has anyone ever felt their intake manifold and seen how hot it is? bits of moisture dont stand a chance

no CAI, i did lot of info on CAI and not worth it, i'm sticking with the stock box...even tho i'll be able to hear the turbo spool a lil louder, not worth the risk
i did think about doing a cheese grater on the stock box but i don't know yet.

That may be, but I have gotten used to the increased sound from the VR6. Kind of hard to give up. I am Lame, I know.

I agree the VR sounds sooo good with an intake, but the Short rams are even louder....I have one and I wouldn't want to go back to a swissed air box ever!! Don't sweat it..I'm just as lame.
