  • Autotech CAI Installed, Tiptronic Sport Mode

Ok well I finally got the CAI installed and holy biznitch is it loud. Letting go of throttle from boost to vacum makes the loudest sound ever! I also changed tiptronic mode to make the car shift smoother and I changed the idle of my car so it wouldnt rattle.

I didnt think the CAI would do much but it actually changed the cars peak power. Previously my 3rd gear would only hit 17-18PSI peak and now it hits 20 PSI... my 4th and 5th gear hits 21 now. Freaking weird!

I was wondering do normal cars with aftermarket CAI's make that same PSSSHHHH sound?

Well after taking it for a spin all night I can say that throttle response definitely is better. Also my boost in each gear has changed. Maybe the ECU re-adapted to the new amount of air coming in.

How much did you raise it, and how much hassle was raising your idle?

                    Simple,

Got the boys at concept1 to raise it. Takes maybe 5 mins with a vagcom =) It only took a while to fiddle with the sport mode for tiptronic which didnt really work. The idle is pretty smooth now. My cars shaking from the motor mounts reduced by 60% ... so I'm definitely happy.

On another note it seems like my higher rpm's are moving quicker then before which is a good thing. Sometimes it felt like after 4000 RPM it would hit a wall but now it seems like its pulling at higher RPMs. For people saying that a k&n is better or the same as a cai I would disagree.... well at least for my car.

the best part I love about the cold start idle aka 1000-1100 is when i'm really half asleep my clutch foot doesn't have to think as much and the car is easier to drive.. but once i wake up it don't really make a difference..

oh my issues with the green top sensor and jumpy idle went away i think it was the crappy shell gas i had in my car that week since that was my only choice.. put 94 mohawk in and 1 day later the idle settled and its been rock sold no moving since

Jumpy idle can be from the vacum with the nipple at the top of the DV. Not on tight enough it will idle funny.
