  • Choke/fan squeeling?

    Hey Guys,

I have an 02 GTI 1.8T and recently when i start the car from cold, there is a squeeling sound coming from the front of the car while the engine choke is on. I believe its the rad fan. It seems to do the same thing if the car is ideling for a bit and the fan comes on. It stops once the car is warmed up. Anyone else had this problem? It looks to be right where the fan motor connects to the fan itself. Is it safe to lube it? any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

By choke i mean when the car is first started the car is ideling higher and the fans run for a minute or 2. they then turn off and the rpms settle back down.

So after some reading on vortex i think i have concluded that its my secondary air pump making this noise on cold start ups. Anyone else had this? Seems to be a common problem. Any quick fixes? Replacing it is not cheap.

I have an old Secondary air pump?
Im going to say $40 for it and pretty much everything thats with it that you may need.

Your other option is the SAI delete.
