Only if its on a warm day... cold days suck for standing outside rubbing wax off your car.

underground heated parking. or, i sometimes use the 24 hour esso car wash, its got like 10 bays, after 11pm there's nobody in there, i wanted to do detailing, and they said no problem, for free as long as i'm not using their stuff.

Underground parking is good... as long as its well-lit and also not too dusty. Dust is the enemy of wax.

I was planning on taking my car to the wand-wash place about 2 blocks away from my home, hand/bucket washing very well, drying... then coming back to my heated garage and doing the clay bar/glaze/wax. There are 2 "guest" parking spots inside my parkade, but they are usually filled... but if up to 2 people wanted to try to use them that would be cool with me. I'm sure we could park elsewhere in the parkade too, but would definately have to move cars if someone wanted to get in or out.

If anyone has a better spot, let me know, i'd be into a "group" detail.

If we want my driveway is available, with pressure washer and all. I'm tied up sunday with the whole thanksgiving thing with the family but otherwise it would work.

Even if you have to pay like 8 bucks to go into a parking building, there should be plenty of downtown ones with space on monday cause of the holiday.

Next weekend I am detailing my car at home. If anyone wanted to do theirs for free or whatever and have a "group detail" that would be fine.

ok, so when are we doing this clay bar & wax thing? i just finished fixing my headlamp. my plastic thing cracked, and my lamp wiggled, same thing that happened to smartiepants. i used the vw repair kit, so i just finished re-installing my bumper.

please advise on what i need to go and buy, i have zymol wax, or should i get something else?

bart just go to a crappy tire and pick up a mothers clay kit.. comes with the clay bar instructions, lube (instant detailer), and cleaner wax to use right after the clay job.. 20 bucks or so for it

Is this the best way to do an old, oxidized paint job? Or would it be better to use a rubbing compound first/instead? I've done other cars with rubbing compound, but I'm not sure if this is the best way (Simon L. mentioned some other stuff to me, maybe I'll ask him again).

It's for a badly oxidized red paint job on my 88 Supra Turbo. Any ideas?

                            Thanks,
                            Rob

If the oxidized paint looks how I am imagining it looks, thats a famous problem for red painted cars. In your place I would take the car to a professional place where they can use a power-buffer on it along with some rubbing compound or swirl remover or whatnot. Clay bar isn't going to help as much...

Yeah, it looks pretty faded. I can imagine it would be a bit of work doing it by hand...

                                Thanks!
