heyy guys, just a quick question?
i have found somthing i would like to bring into alberta,
anything i should be worrried about,
or has anyone done this before if so, can you please share your story,
i have never done this before, all the help would be kindly appreciated:

Just make sure it's completely detailed before entering.
Any signs of Narcotics it will be impounded for about 6-10 months before it's released.
Believe me i know.(been waiting since April 2009 and still waiting)

theres a site that has a list of which cars you can bring in from the states
after you get it here you neeed to get a federal inspection to insure it
i had a friend bring a viper over from ebay wasn't too hard lots of forms though

hey and dont be fooled by cars that are wayyy too cheap either send no money until you see the car or find someone else to go look at it have them take the car to a dealership for a pre buy .

Aside from that, yes... Turbomeyers is right... Do your homework! And yes, if you're sending some random dude $20,000 via Western Union... well then... you're already beyond help.

Remember, it can be a very enjoyable or a very horrible experience. It basically comes down to how much research you put into ensuring the automobile you're importing is what you expect and ensuring that the transaction goes smoothly.

If its a BMW just quit now.

Also the rule of thumb is to spend about 80% of the maximum going price for the car (at least) if you don't want to regret it. Get a good example.

I had no problem importing an M3 last month... Sure you have to pay $2500 for a cluster swap, but other than that it was easy peasy.

well thanks once again for all the help guys, i just needed some info, im not evan sure if i will go with it or not i guess its quite the proccess, & no its not a bmw lol, the car i was after was just a simple old school, 79 vdub mk1

No kidding. You don't even need to do any of the RIV process if it's 15 years old or older.
