  • where do i find this tool?

I'm looking for the tool to remove the bold that holds the hatch latch/lock mechanism in a mk4 golf.

I think it's a torx bolt, but I've heard that it's an M8 size. i've never heard of torx bits in M* sizes, only T* sizes. I took a walk thru canadian tire and didn't see anything resembling the part that i need.

    Thanks

Usually in the form of a socket with a bit in it. Would have thought cdn tire would have something. Napa or Princess Auto I bet.

**M8 is the the diameter of the bolt i believe.

I didn't think so.. but you could be right.

is it a 6 point or 12 point star?

Re: where do i find this tool?

              i stand corrected...

I got my triple square bits from Napa. Although they didn't know that term, they knew it as a 12 point.

They had a bunch at house of tools last week, but they shut down today (bankrupt), and I bet someone has scooped them.

I bought a 4-pack triple square set at Canadian Tire for $12.

unfortunate after all of this, it's not the lock mechanism that is fubar :( time to try the microswitch.
