  • Backed into in Drive-thru

Sitting behind a guy in drive-thru waiting for him to order, when he suddenly decides he must move back 2 feet to properly order a coffee.
All I could do was nail the horn as a trailer hitch goes through my bumper.

Should I go Dealership or Calgary Coachworks? Who is at fault in a drive thru?

      Re: Backed into in Drive-thru

Got all the info. Just got off the phone with TD Melloche, they are emailing me a list of Their approved shops. I'll post on forum to see which shops are known for good work, if noone, then I'll choose my own.

It wouldn't be too bad to repair if it hadn't of gone thorough the inner plastic. Oh well, at least I'll get a new painted bumper!

we took my wifes corolla to A1 when it had major hail damage and it came out brand new looking with 0 complaints.. RBC referred us to the shop too

I think they painted the whole car almost since when i picked it up it smelt like new paint to me.. but had 0 issues with them at all..

Happened in a parking lot or drive thru it's going to be 50/50.
Don't go to Hallmark or A1.
And have them put it in writing that it is an original part and not a used or aftermarket piece of crap.

              Thanks for the info.

So, if not these places, where should I go?

50/50 in the Drive-thru? That's BS. WTF? How is that so?

All incidents in parking lots are deemed no fault, hence 50/50.
                Ask your insurance agent.
As for body shops i use Cosmos or Superior.
Bright side is it's only a bumper skin and hopefully they won't screw it up.

                    Re: Backed into in Drive-thru

TD's "Approved Shops" simply means they deal directly with the shop. IF I go somewhere else, they'll have to send an adjuster to check out the damage, I guess.

I have coverage for rental car, so I'm thinking I should go to Contempary Coachworks? I think that's the name. people have good reviews from there.

I'm also concerned about Tech's ripping around in my New GTI.

write down mileage of car before drop off

chipped? put it into valet mode if you have it

body shops shouldn't have to drive your car for anything other than .1 km into and out of bays unless there is crazy damage that requires alignments, etc

                        Re: Backed into in Drive-thru

You have the right to go anywhere you want, they will send an adjuster to approve the cost of the repairs but for damage like this they will approve it, don't worry. Just say Cosmos :P

                          Re: Backed into in Drive-thru

i remember back a little while ago, i was arguing with someone on beyond about accidents, and in the event that someone was in reverse, it's automatically their fault. so check into that. don't feel pressured that you have to pick one of their shops, pick whichever one you feel comfortable with taking care of your car!

Try an get him say that it was his fault...best way would be to go to the cops and write a police report but there isnt 1000 dollars in damage there! so its a tough call on how u would get him to say so!

Yeah, It's hard to say if it's over $1000 or not, I think it probably is, but I'm no expert.

My adjuster suggested I go file a police report, so that they can contact buddy and get a statement, but that's a pain in the ass too.

I'm going to take it to Cosmos or Contemporary
