Actually its not the pad you are rotating, its the piston of the caliper. Canadian Tire has this tool set to rent from the parts counter. Its called the "rear caliper piston retractor" and as far as I know, you leave a deposit and you get 100% of it returned once you bring it back. The tool cost nothing to rent, as long as you bring it back within the allotted time and its not broken.
TWO TON ENGINE LIFT/CRANE FOR RENT PM me if you need one!!
Partsource has them for rent too, same deal. You can buy the cheap cube version that fits on a ratchet too. The one I got didn't fit very well though. The proper tool is nicer.

Define a "regular tool". And I don't mean the guy behind the counter at AutoZone.
Just a standard spreader like this http://www.autobarn.net/lis24400.html
and Stonewall, do you happen to have that tool??
I wanna get these rear brakes done!

dont use that tool on rear brakes!
that just pushes the piston straight in, and you will destroy the auto tensioner for the emergency brake! The rear caliper pistons need to be turned as they are pressed in to reset the tensioner, which is why the right tool (like the one stonewall posted) has the pegs on the face of the spreader that mesh with grooves on the face of the piston.
