  • Seafoam

My friend just did it in his Prelude, and it makes me wanna do it as well. He said theres an improvement in idle, acceleration and fuel mileage. My car is nearing 200,000km so I thought what the hell why not.

Just wanna see if anyone has any bad experience or something weird has happened after seafoaming?

Heres a link I found on vortex: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3008538&page=1

    Re: Seafoam

lol...I thought from the title of this that it was going to be some sort of insulating of the car and making a stereo sound better but keeping the noise concealed better. DAMNIT what a disappointment!

        Hey Mike,

I've heard about this stuff and am wondering as well. I haven't heard anything bad happening because of this procedure, yet, but I have heard about some vehicles puffing white smoke for awhile afterwards. Its just the seafoam, but I am also worried as well about something going horribly wrong in the aftermath. How about you try it first, and then you tell me if its worth it or not..... haha

          Re: Seafoam

Ive ran it on 3 of my cars.
Did alot of research and have found that if your cars engine is in rough shape DO NOT use sea foam as this will only make things worse.
If you engine is healthy and could just use a "trip to the gym" then it works wonders.

I ran it in everything from a 92 to a 01 BMW and had great results. A friend ran it in his POS intrepid that was blowing blue. Within a week his car the blowing blue was 10x worse.

It also screws the o2 sensors. You can put it in the crankcase and the gas tank but I wouldn't do the intake mani.

It did wonders for my 84 supra but the 1.8T Jetta threw codes for a week before I burned it off. Many others have to replace the o2/cat.
