  • Cosmos v. Craftsman collision. Opinions please.

    Hey guys,
I smoked a deer last night and have some front end damage including a blown rad. Jiust wondering what your opinions are of cosmos collision (recommended by SCFC) and Craftsman Collision.

    Thanks!

Never used Cosmos, but Loc there sure seems dedicated to his work.. I stopped by for an opinion and got a tour of the shop. I don't think you'd be disappointed, although I'm sure it will cost more.

Cosmos is the best...period. They are not cheap, nor are they overly quick...but you get what you pay for. Loc is an awesome guy to deal with too, he'll always go the extra mile to make things right

Loc basically will not cut corners and when you get your car back it will be like new, plus he is super nice. But yeah it might cost more. If insurance is paying, always go Cosmos.

Their prefered place was Carstar collision on 9th ave / bow trail. It's nice to hear that Cosmos has a stellar reputation. I'm glad I didn't let the insurance company take it to Carstar like they wanted.

{Edit} here is a shot of it...

That is the EXACT situation I was in when the wifey got hit in the allroad. They wanted to take it to CarStar and I told them to stuff it! Although I have never had any work done there, I didn't feel easy about leaving a european vehicle with special needs at a shop with 15 wrecked Cavaliers sitting out front...

You brought it to the right place and he uses all OEM parts not knock offs.
I'am surprised the airbags didn't deploy.
Soft tissue damage on the deer i presume....

No airbags (thankfully they didn't go off as they weren't needed)
Yes, all soft tissue on the deer. It died pretty much instantly - I went over to finish it within about 45 seconds from the crash and it wasn't needed.

Get your hood notch filled while you can?

Wife took the Volvo to Cosmos, so happy with the result. Don't even want to drive it it looks so good. We got the updated grill too. Gonna be a shame to give it back :(

Good point Kris - I like the logo on the front myself - but now you've got me thinking about some upgrades.

Any other ideas for things like:
                        1. Headlights (one is fine so it looks like insurance will only cover the damaged one - I'd need to spend the cash anyway)

                        2. Grills - I'm a fan of the Jetta sport grill but don't really know what's out there

                        Let's see some pics!

Also, anyone have experience in dealing with insurance and aftermarket parts during the process? how does that usually work? I've never dealt with insurance before!

Regarding aftermarket parts, talk to Loc about it. I had my GTI VR6 done at there shop and i was happy with the service and the final product. I had aftermarket headlights put in that replaced the OEM ones, as well as the badgeless grill. They even fixed my sagging door moulding for free as well. They bent over backwards for me too, because somehow a scratch appeared on the freshly painted fender before I took possesion of it and they were determined to get it fixed. They let me take the car that day, even though I was a little annoyed with the scratch, and they picked the car up from my work the next day. They fixed the scratch during my work hours and had the car back to me before the end of my shift. Oh, and they also polished the 5hit out of the car to make me happy with the over all appearence of the car.
Its hard to find a reputable body shop these days, but I found one and I'll stick with them!
