All mk4's and on have the anti corrosion warrenty, BUT, the rust does have to originate from behind the paint. If there is a rock chip, and the rust was caused by the chip exposing bare metal, then the warrenty is void in that spot of the vehicle.
VW did have a problem with rust developing from behind the front fender, at the top of the wheel well caused by some insulation foam directly behind the metal. This foam would hold moisture and cause rust to from behind. I have seen quite a bit of these cases and we took care of it without prejudice at our VW and Audi dealership. Just demand your right to have the vehicle fixed under this warrenty and threaten to contact VW of Canada and complain about the way you were treated, and the **** will be handled.
Does this only go for the original owner? Or would I be able to go into the dealership and have the bubbles in the paint removed on my 2000 Jetta (I'm the 2nd owner)?
