It sounds like we were all talking about the same concept, just from different reference points.

As I said before, elected admins and a group ownership of the club is a better approach for the long run.

I understand and agree with that reasoning - I think that strikes a balance too... The leaders need to have the authority on the board and when people don't like it something there isn't a vote every week - voting is for leadership not issues.

Can we also agree that such a vote should occur at a Club meeting and not on the board? That way only club members vote?

I agree completely. I could see us holding a formal meet where it is known that there will be elections... people show their NVD membership card to get a ballot... all ballots are anonymous... make your selection from a list of candidates (whoever is nominated... so I guess we would have nominations as well... which could probably be done on the forums)... drop your ballot in a box... after everyone has voted we count 'em up and have ourselves a new executive.

Ah democracy. How I love thee. :mrlaugh:

Actually truth be told, :ed:Canada is a dictatorship due to party solidarity and majority governments. But anyways, I think that members should be able to vote on who they want as "leader."
Honestly, that position has alot of work; Peter puts alot into the club. I think we should actually start to think, who would WANT to run for pres? If no one wants to run, what is the point in arguing about all of this?

Then can you do this poll at a meeting where it can be done with a little EXTRA respect for the person that gave birth to this group? And maybe have options that show a corosponding level of respect?

Personally I apologise to Peter for dragging this out with my posts. It is with all respect to what you have built and guided. If my words have expressed otherwise I feel badly.

Yeah, who would the candidates be other than Peter?

This is not the thread nor the time for naming candidates for anything. However I suggest that people who want the responsibility be able to name themselves, but also be required to have one other NVD person stand up for them.

Just from a political science aspect, realise a democracy is as evil for the population as a dictatorship. The whole "Tyrany of the Majority" business rears its ugly head. Canada and the US etc are not democracies - they are republics.

And I dunno what Peter is worried about - he's pretty much assured of being voted pres as the job is such a hassle. Tho having some official "2nd in commands" makes sense in case he gets hit by a bus or something.
