So if someone thinks that the forum is running fine, and they are happy -- they are labelled as a commie?

Sweet. Cool. Awesome. Fantastic. Exciting. Dangerous.

The words are only their if you agree or disagree with a democratic system. This has nothing to do with the forum only peter its the club as a whole. I'll let the people speak with thier mouse clicks. You can still as you said 'run' everyone just chooses who they think is the best candidate for the job.

So is fluidic Digital the creator of this 'club' or Message board? If so he should have the say of what's going on if anybody does.

I would like clarification.... If this is about the Club Community to which there are PAID members, I wholeheartedly beleive that we need a number of executive positions that reflect the members wishes. I am therefore voting for rather than against.

If the question pertains to the forum ( I don't think it does) then I beleive it is up to the person running the forum ( it gets into a bit of a loop here, but right now the Club does not own the forum !).

I am voting based on The Club and what I think will help maintain the strong forward momentum and furthermore allow The Club to continue to grow stronger. I hope to see Peter at the Elections and as a Founding Member his strong influence will surely reflect in him being voted into a position.

            This is ridiculous.

Create a line between the forum and club or restrict the users of the forum to club members only.

A forum cannot be a democracy. If so it will die a slow death.

This is by far the best idea so far!

I couldn't disagree more. Would you like it if Canada were dictatorship? Democracy has its issues in any implementation, but overall it is the best available option... for the club and the forums (which to me are the same thing).

I disagree that the club and forum are the same. I found this site the other day and thought it was a cool site. Very informative and seem to be very nice cars here. I found the site on 42 design's web page. So therefore if you publicize the forum it will NOT be club members only.

We are talking about a forum - not a country. Forums are a privilege - a birthplace or citizenship becomes a right.

A number of challenges come up with a democratic forum. Where do you draw the line as to when things should be voted on? Who has the final say? Do you vote on everything?

Look at the successful forums on the Internet - none are democratic. There is a leader and it run more like a business. The ones that are restrict themselves to "club members only" are small and have a tough time attacting people.

I guess if the Club owns this board, and the club wants to vote on the board, restrict it to the club. Don't invite non-club members to post.

I understand where both parties are coming from - but I just feel that the club has to be run differently.

I suppose you're right about the forum - Peter used his allowance (sorry, I'm being a prick here, but I couldn't resist) to get the forum up and running, so I guess we're stuck there.

Since the club & site are becoming bigger, I think that it's time for more than one person to be in charge of everything.

JBGTI.. the forum is primarily for the local Calgary and area dubbers to chat and share ideas.. if we have lurkers come in from like you tenessee thats cool but you must understand that 99% of the topics on here relate to local people and personal information in some topics.

btw mtnpete in my vortex sig i say 'calgary and area' not africa, asia,uk people come over.. if they float by then sure

Obviously the country comparison was a very loose comparison, of course it's not the same as a country. Democratic doesn't mean we vote on everything. Of course that can't happen. But we should be able to vote who the admins are (I would actually suggest that we vote on the club executive, and they in turn are all admins). What they say goes. No questions asked. If you don't like it, buy a membership and vote them out next time there are elections.
