  • Turbo Lag?

Hi guys, so I'm driving home from work today and no matter in what gear I was in, I'd pretty much floor it and the turbo would not spool. For example I'd be at in 2nd gear at round 3000 rpms, full throtle and it wouldnt pull what so ever.
So i pulled into a parking lot, turned the car off turned it back on and my turbo is back!?! WTF? lol
I'm really confused so any ideas what this would cause it? Bad coil pack maybe...it's the only thing i can really think of...

            Re: Turbo Lag?

Sounds like soft-limp mode to me. I used to get it from time to time in my Jetta, usually on hot days when I was driving like an ass, so it was probably because it was pulling too much timing.

              Re: Turbo Lag?

Limp mode. Happened to me too about 2 weeks ago leaving town on highway 1 just past the city limits going up the big hill. I was pushing 18-19psi then the turbo shut down. Pulled over at Calaway park and turned off the engine and back on. Voila back in business.

              Lessons learned:
-don't drive like an ass when it is hot out
-look at getting a bigger turbo
-look at getting a FMIC to replace stock SMIC

Morespeed just scan your car if you can get your hands on a vag tool...
If no codes then some loggin is your best bet
