  • Turn Signal Problem

This just started yesterday and is very annoying.
Every time I use my turn signals the relay/switch keeps clicking about 10-15 times after the turn signal is off. It seems to click more times when I use the right signal, I can also hear it clicking when I first start the car. Any ideas?

Most likely the signal stalk is having some issues. These 2 threads cover the issue + repair methods:

yeah, the ol' electrical cleaner at the base of the turn stalk (as in above threads) seems to fix this issue for everyone that has had it, so far. Fix seems to last too. Hasn't come back for me, and it's probably been 2 years.

i wish it was true for everyone.. it was actually defective in mine.. since the car was an 03 it wasn't recalled. it was an expensive fix but caused me quite the headache so got it replaced regardless.

I have had the same issue a few times in the past few years. The contact cleaner has always worked. Some times it takes lots of cleaner and flicking the switch back and forth and repeat. But eventually it always worked. I hope to never have to replace the thing.

                  Re: Turn Signal Problem

so i called george from tubedub and he said it'll cost 220 to replace.
i said i'll call him back sometime next week to make an appointment...well last night driving home from work it stopped! hasn't done is since....weirddddd..but it was pretty bad...like it would flick very fast for 20 times every like 30 seconds...so i guess i'll leave it for now, since it doesnt do it anymore, and i'm going to do the contact cleaner if it starts again...i really dont wanna pay 220 bux to get it replaced...
George said that it's only good for about 120,000kms and then needs to be replaced...my car is at 140,000 now so maybe it will need to be replaced in the near future

                    Re: Turn Signal Problem

mine has 220,000. Probably about 60,000 since I did the contact cleaner.

Always a pricey part though. Had to replace the one on my Mk3. That one was beyond repair.

Was driving back from Drumheller, and it started to click like mad. It would slow down but after every bump on the road would get it started again....

hope the cleaner helps you too, as the replacement alternative sucks if it doesn't!

I think 220 is just labor?(for the signal light switch)
Sometimes on these cars it can also be the Hazard switch as well.
