Is it okay to use conical bolts in a ball seat wheel hole and vice versa?

I only ask because I have those Miro 279's and they look like ball seat, but when I went to concept-1 Ken said my bolts were a "poorly made cone bolt" so they sold me conical bolts I needed for my 20mm spacers I just got.

Not sure if its safe, but they seem to sit fine and I have been driving on them for a week. The front still have, according to concept-1 the "poorly made cone bolt" that I got from Tire Bob when he put my wheels on.

I don't want to point any fingers but either Tire Bob sells poorly made bolts, which I don't believe is true, or the guys at Concept-1 don't really know what they are talking about (wouldn't be the first time in my experiences with them)

Pics of the bolt I got from Tire Bob(left) and new Concept-1 bolt (right):

    Thanks all

The ones on the left are a ball seat, don't know how it could be confused with a cone seat. If your wheels need ball seat then you have to use ball seat because the cone seat will have a smaller contact area thus causing a higher stress on the bolt where the contact is made rather than evenly spreading the stress over the contact area like with the correct bolt.

With 20mm spacers, the proper bolts are even more important. Spacers even with the proper bolts are frowned upon by many wheel guys (shear forces are bad), let alone with bolts that don't use all their surface area. I sure wouldn't drive on them.

        Kinda common sense.

Return the bolts to concept1 an tell em to give u ball seat!

          Re: Wheel Bolts

I'm not really asking which bolts are which, I know the difference.

I don't see how spacers can be THAT bad considering 98% of cars on the vortex drive with them on... not to mention the guys with adapters etc. I can see how they would be bad for auto-x though.

I was just asking if it was OKAY to use those bolts. When I had the wheels off, the bolts felt the exact same inside the hole (Same amount of movement)

I checked last night and the bolts are still as tight as when I put them on.

Not sure how I can return bolts that I have been using for a week already.
Concept-1 doesn't even sell the length I need in ball seat, not like I'd want to go back to them anyways.

Suppose I'll order a set of ball seat online and drive with these on until they arrive.

          Thanks.

            Re: Wheel Bolts

conical in a ball seat is going to give you a very small contact surface. The bolts won't spin loose, but will cause unnecessary wear on both the bolt and your wheel. I wouldn't do it.

Yup, I have already ordered a set of extended ball seat bolts online for a good price, don't want to run into any problems in the future.

If anyone needs 49mm Conical bolts, PM me I'll soon have 10 for sale @ $35 (paid $50)

You must not know Tirebob very well. He knows his sh*t. He would not sell you the wrong bolt.

You're right, I don't know him at all, but he did seemed like no amateur.

I only said that Ken from concept-1 called Tire Bob's ball seat bolts "Poorly made Conical seat bolts" which I find hilarious now that I compare the two, and remind myself of why I don't like buying through them. (see above quote)

I've had it with concept-1 and will never again bring my business to them.
