    Re: mk4 deck install

i just had the basic stock deck. bought the wiring harness, and all worked well. Not sure if extra is required on the premium/monsoon systems. Shouldn't really need a diagram for the car if buy have the right wiring harness.

thats what i thought, the wiring harness isn't even plug in play i had to bend the pins over and almost force the plugs on.

i have a feeling you ended up with the wrong one. Is there like a monsoon/non-monsoon variant that is simmilar, and maybe ended up with the wrong one?

What kinda of deck are you installing? monsoon or aftermarket?

Cause when i bought my car it came with an aftermarket cd player, i swapped it out for a double din monsoon which did not work, in order to make it work you had to buy a bunch of harnesses, in the end it would of not dimmed with the rest of the dash.

Give us some more info so we can help u out

                  Re: mk4 deck install

there is no ACC signal in the harness (the other problem you will run into, after you get the proper harness adapter - about $20)
The $130 module probably makes an ACCessory signal from the CAN bus.

You can tap off a fuse (can't remember which one off the top of my head), so don't buy the module.

first get the proper harness adapter and wire the deck up to it, then you will need to connect the ACC wire from the deck to the fuse.
                  put.......put.......

                  .... ... .. .

                    Re: mk4 deck install

I put one in on monday night and it went in no problem. Keep in mind that there is two different harnesses, one for a factory single din and one for a factory double din. The wiring harness I used was for the single din and it went together no problem. I also put one in my GTI last year which is factory double din and I used the double din harness and it also went together fairly easy without any bending of the pins.

                      Re: mk4 deck install

Deck installs are easy, if you are bending thing you have the wrong harness. If you had a double DIN it is likely the acc wire is not in the harness but it is easy to run a new one from under the dash. I would help you out but I am tapped out for time these days.

Ok, now I got a quick question here. I got a Pioneer DH8000BT that is a double din that I am going to install next week. Do I have to go out and get a different harness as well? I got a single din harness in with my Alpine deck at the moment, do I have to get a different one though for a double din Pioneer?

i think the harness is relative to the deck you had, not the deck you are getting. i would think you;d be ok.

Aight. I didn't think there would be a difference. Anyone know which fuse I need to tape into for the acc wire? Also, what is the use if this wire anyways?
