  • Euro Plate install

So I just got my euro plate in the mail and picked up a frame from concept 1 and I'm just wondering if anyone has any tips as to best place to install it or what type of hardware they used to mount it? Any good DIY links would be much appreciated as well.

    Btw its an 01 GTI

    Cheers.

If you need a DIY for installing a piece of plastic then you really shouldnt be working in or around your car.

you just screw it on.... if you take off your bumper you should be able to see where to drill the holes, it is marked on the inside of the bumper iirc..

i use 3m weather proof industrial strength velcro. no holes in bumper, and easy removal. i also skipped the front plate holder, it looks cleaner this way, especially if you have the euro rub strip. but if you are using screws use the holder.

only problem i see with that is its easier to steal.. it has happened... although they'd be pretty stupid to steal a vanity plate since its pretty unique and easy to recognize.

if they really want it, they will rip it off no matter how its stuck on. who would think a license plate is stuck on by velcro? my rear AB plate is also affixed this way too haha. steal away!

in case i need to rob a bank or something, very convenient!

sick thanks for your help man.

I was more talking about exactly what the other guys did. Tricks tips what they used to hold it on.

But again I don't know what I would have done without your two cents.

I use the velcro method too, less damage to the bumper and if someone really wants it they will take it anyway, but after 4 years has worked just fine for me.

This is absolutely true. My Euro Plate is screwed onto my bumper, and it was stolen (and recovered) at WoW this year in the parking lot. They ripped it right off my car and bent the crap out of it. However it is one of those unique "one of a kind" plates that if I ever saw kickin around calgary would get stolen back.

But its cool to know about the 3m velcro. I never even thought of that back when I got my plate!

You asked a stupid question so you got the answer to go with it.

If you just took the time to just think about how you could possibly attach it you would have answered ur own question.

I really like how you are the only one who thinks this is a stupid question, have you noticed everyone else has added something constructive?

reggie used the 3m too, some guy tried to rip it off but was too lazy and left it half on half off and completely mamed.
