b4 passat missing all keys

hey i bought a cheap parts car to do my 5 speed swap, but its missing all the keys.

can the dealer make a key with just the vin?
could i just break the steering lock column and wire it somehow to start?? lol
i just want to drive this thing to see if the tranny works good.

not sure if key code is on the outter door handle, usually stammped on housing for key cyl, at least on the older cars. otherwise yes, proof of ownership and a vin should get you a key.

all i have for this car is a bill of sale, i doubt that will work for the dealership.
i dont really want to waste money on registering this car to my name, since its just a parts car.

well i phoned around and only southcenter can do it.
i just gotta bring them my passenger side door handle.
i hope it hasnt been re keyed.
