I needed some oil for my TDI and dropped by the Mr. Lube down the road from my office. Picked up some Motul 505.01 ($14.99) and noticed that they carried Interstate batteries. I asked them if they could get an MTP-H7 for my TDI. They said they could and it was $270 installed. Suggested retail price on the Interstate site is $162.95. Anyone know where I can get it for less than 2 bills.

Re: TDI battery
Not to hijack this thread but....
I have the scanguage II in my stock 2004 TDI and set to display battery voltage. When its colder than -20 that car is very hard to start. I see the battery voltage when cranking around 10.5 to 11 volts. Once the car starts the voltage jumps up to 14. I normally only get 3 or 4 tries at starting the car before there is not enough battery power to crank the engine. If the temp is warmer than -15 the car starts fine and I usually see battery voltage of 12 when cranking. If the temp is warmer than 0 then I see battery voltage of 13 when cranking. I know that the cold steals a lot of cranking power from the battery but do you think my battery is on the way out? I have had the battery load tested and it reports as good but this was on a +10 day. I think I just may need to install a battery blanket to keep the battery warm. Of course installing that zerostart heater I have had in my garage for 2 years would be a good idea as well :-(2004 VW Jetta TDI Sport

Re: TDI battery
Whenever a better gets cold it looses storage capacity hence why the voltage will drop a lot faster (lose of voltage potential). A battery blanket may help a bit but the batteries are already a little insulated on VW cars. Installing the zerostart will not only make your batteries life easier but you will have WAY less wear on you engine. It is likely your battery is fine if you had it load tested, the glowplugs draw upwards of 12amps when on so on a very cold day no batteries are going to be able to handle it.Name: Brent
