Pop the motor cover off (that square piece of fabric right next to the switch) using a flat screwdriver or your fingers, inside you will find an allen key/tool. Use that to manually close it. Procedure is outlined in your owners manual if you need a better explanation .

        Re: Sunroof stuck open...

Used to happen to my '03 GTi a handful of times.

What did I do to fix?

Just keep the car running... and crank the sunroof dial all the way to one side. Then... if that doesn't work... crank the dial all the way to the other side. Doesn't work? Do it again... and again... and again. I never had to do this more than like 3 times and then... voila... it seems to just "figure it out" and sort it self out. Problem fixed.

        Cheers... Deuce.

            Re: Sunroof stuck open...

If it's still not working, also try this:

Turn the sunroof knob to a 1/2 open position with the car on. Shut the car off. With the car off, return the dial to the "closed" position. Turn the car on. Now turn the dial back to the 1/2 open position again. Hopefully, it corrects.

Not the most scientific I know... but I swear... it worked for me the 2 or 3 times the VW electronic gremlins visited.

            Good luck.

close it manually, key off, place knob in closed position, turn ign on, then move to vent, then close, then open. in a warm place might be a good idea

I guess none of you guys know about the override button for the sunroof? If you are having problems with the pinch protection (sunroof closes part way then goes back), try using the override button. Turn the sunroof dial to the closed position, then press and hold the front part of the dial. This will force the sunroof to close and ignore the pinch protection, so if it is physically able to close, it will.

But get it thoroughly checked out BEFORE your warranty expires. They are very expensive to fix at the dealer. I know, I've been there -- thankfully under warranty.

press and hold as in push it in toward the roof of the car? and hold. Interesting gem of info there . Thanks

South Center I dont think is booking that far out? Does the sliding headliner part move freely? sometimes the guides break and cause all kinds of headaches in the tracks.
