  • Anyone wanna help me out?

So im picking a new car up out of Calgary and have no way of getting it back to edmonton right now. As it has near bald summers on it, and i dont really want to risk it on the way home.

Im basically looking for a set of 4x100 winter or a/s tires in a 15 or 16 inch rim. They have to be able to clear a corrado big brake. That or a single car trailer for a couple days.

I have no problem leaving something as collateral, and will also include beer

hmm check clubveedub, there is someone selling a set of 15" milanos off their rabbit but im not sure if they would fit your car.

Also Uhaul rents auto transport flatbeds for $50 and you could get it in edmonton and tow the trailer down and back or to save some gas locate one in calgary and they do one way trips as well so you could drop the trailer off at a uhaul in edmonton.

i checked that out, its around 50 for their smallest coverd trailer. the automotive sized one were quoted around 85-90. that + gas make it more reasonable to just track down 2 cheapo winters and tough it out.

does it have to be covered? I just checked their prices and a 1 way from calgary to ed using their auto transport (different from covered trailers it is a flat bed) is $74.00 and their dollys are $61, the prices are up a little from last year when I towed my car out to cranbrook but still fairly reasonable.

if you decide to rent a trailer/dolly, make sure you have insurance for it. The only way you don't need insurance for a dolly is if it has an insured vehicle on it.

no it doesnt have to be covered, and a dolly wont work as it is pretty low.

with the insurence, does uhaul not include it?

Re: Anyone wanna help me out?

you can buy insurance from them for $20 or so but if you get the car registered to you and get your insurance put on the car your towing then you don't need their insurance because your insurance should cover you under the insurance of the vehicle your towing with. If that makes sense at all lol. My dad was trying to explain it to me after speaking with his insurance company about it but basically when I used my dad's truck to tow my car out to BC the consensus was that the uhaul insurance was useless. Kinda like a tow truck towing a vehicle, the vehicle gets put under the tow truck's insurance.

Someone else may have better info than me on the insurance end of things but this is just what I've been told.

edit: you may want to check in advance with your insurance company though

Got stopped in BC, because the car dolly wasn't insured....took the dolly out from calgary, it would have been OK if there was a car on it. It's only insured when there is an insured vehicle on it.
