  • Transmission jammed up??

    Hey guys,

I was driving on 14th street today, turned right onto John Laurie West, when I changed gears from 2nd to 3rd all of a sudden I hear this loud bang. The next thing I notice was my clutch pedal was stuck, i can press it down but it wouldnt come back up. Then I pulled over (very dangerous because I was actually on the merge lane) and used my hands to pull up the clutch pedal.

I put it in 1st gear, it would not move an inch, but when I put it in reverse it would move about 2 inches or so then stop.....it seems like something is jammed in there....

So what has happened? anyone has similar or same problems??

    my car is a 2000 Jetta VR6

have it towed,it could be the clutch, spider gears blew out of the case..or hydraulics.
i have a hoist if you need it.

First of all, thanks Paul for the hoist but my car got towed this morning already. Actually getting it towed to TuneDub (this would be my 1st time there, hope I have a good experience with them!)

Yea, there was a loud bang, however, there were no grinding noises....like i can still shift gears but when i let the clutch out (i can still feel the friction point) but the car will "try" to move forward but does not it does seems to me something in the gearbox is jammed up

Yeah I have seen those symptoms, my first stab would have been a clutch too.
Good luck, hopefully that is all it is as a clutch is cheaper then a tranny rebuild.

yeaaa...i'm really hoping its a clutch problem rather than tranny problem cause i'm kinda tight on cash at the moment...

anyways i'm heading down to tunedub later on soo we'll see what they say

              Thanks guys!
