    Re: exhaust

i would go 3 inch you do not lose power on the low end , ever , ever , on a turbo car when you open up the exhausts . i would not go 42dd . there flanges suck and continually leak on my tts anyway . the ghl is good the apr is good , magnaflow is good , dont know the max unit , eurojet is good but hard to get ,

      Re: exhaust

Now how about on a non-turbo'ed engine, a 2.5" would probably do it just fine right?

        Re: exhaust

its a different matter on a non turbo engine as you are not looking to jsut get as much air through the pipe as possible but tune the pipe so the reflections in it help the car breath. I dont know if I would go jsut putting a pipe on or looking for a matched set. an increase in pipe size will help to a degree but you can reduce power in some cases

Oh really?! Maybe I shouldn't have opted out of mechanics in High School. Hah. See I greatly dislike my down-turned exhaust pipes, and would much rather enjoy a throatier sounding exhaust.

              Re: exhaust

Since no one has mentioned it yet, I'd suggest Milltek. I love mine! The build quality is very nice and its got a nice aggressive tone without being obnoxious. On the highway in 6th gear it sounds dead stock, absolutely no drone or cabin noise whatsoever. However, as soon as you open the taps, there is no mistaking it for the factory exhaust.

Careful with the GHL stuff. I'm not sure if their new stuff is better, but thier old stuff had a tendancy to crack at the welds. I had a GHL downpipe on my car and had heard the stories of people with cracked/broken exhausts, so I checked my downpipe when we replaced my clutch last year. Sure enough, it was cracked right through in 3 places.

I bought mine through work. Let me know what system you decide on and I'll see what kind of price I can get you.

Such a long thread and nobody mentioned CEL?

Agree glass pack exhaust + turbo car = failure waiting to happen

Um, I put a Magnaflow cat back system on my VR6 & I haven't noticed any loss in power. Not like I run her at the track or anything tho. She's just my DD

I definietly love the sound (low n' throaty, not too loud or too sharp) & the 3" dual stainless tips are a HUGH improvement over the nasty brown down turned stock tips - they had to go! Just my two cents...

Oh really? I think I'd have to hear this for myself, if you had an opportunity to make that happen let me know!

                                Re: exhaust

the main area of concern for a non turbo is the point the manifold drops from 4 into 1 and then less so when it hits the muffler. so if you keep your original manifold there might not be much difference, maybe
