What would my options be in case of cluster replacement (VDO D12) to get the old odometer readings on?

If your replacing the cluster I believe the odo can be changed once. So if your replacing it with a used one make sure it hasn't been changed already.

on the mk4 ones, I think you can change it up, but not down fairly easy. So if you get a low mileage one, you can match it. I think....

            Re: Odometer correction

What is the way to evaluate if a cluster could be corrected?
Could it be done by VAG-COM or dealers are the only option?
My readings on the Internet suggest that there are no limitations with odometer corrections.

I've never done it before, but I understand that on the A6 you can use VAG to change the reading.

                  Re: Odometer correction

you didnt need to double post

you can do it with a vag com but i beleive with increased vw/audi security you must get it done at the dealer now.. ask you need a SKC (secret key code)
when you program the new cluster its on the honor system and you put in the new mileage.. so in theory if the old had 55,005 on it you'd put in 55,005 into the new one.. well it won't let you go into singles from my experience but to the 10s

                    Re: Odometer correction

you can only change it via vag-com if the km are <100km

there is software on the net now which lets you change it to whatever using a special cable, its a couple hundred euros, but you don't have to take your cluster apart anymore

yeah, I bought one of those "special cables"..works well
vdo d12 doesn't mean much, why not just post the M(odel)Y(eay) and car info

if the cluster is 0 or < 100km them vag-com also

                      this is interesting:

                      .... ... .. .

                        Re: Odometer correction

like VSM said you can only go up, you do however need a pin # which is only valid for a day, you can change the date of your laptop for vag users if you have an older code I believe. I would jst go to SCFC and get the foreman to do it for you, he's got the skills to pay the bills
