  • MK4 Skid Plate Q

    Hey all,
skid plate has so much ice in it that oil pan makes contact when engine twists with torque. Anyone ever experience this?

I think your motor mounts might need to be replaced, I don't think the engine should twist that much, but why not take the car to a wand wash and blast the ice out with hot water?

no, pretty sure its the engine. I cant see a space between ice and oil pan, and usually can see daylight through the other side. Also, there is a big chunk of ice oozing from the drain plug hole in the pan. Thought of car wash, but its a little too cold here at the moment. may cause more issues than good. I'm going to trya nd borrow a garage. Also will leave my pan heater on for a while. Its practically making contact. I'm more worried about damaging the pan heater than anything at them moment.

I'm not to worried, I'll get it dealt with. just curious if anyone has had this happen.

well, I got the chunk loose, but its too big to slip out the side.

I'm going to have to get those side skirts back on.

i was going to say just park downtown underground and hit up the mall for some boxing weeks sales and bye bye ice

1 of my wheels still has ice in it and is out of balance for the last 2 weeks because i haven't had the time to get it into some heat

Yeah, in Invermere. Don't think there is much for underground parkades here.

go to a coin wash like big bucket that closes teh doors.. the heat there should melt it away plus wash your car and giver' a spray down there and it should do the trick
