  • The "Curse of the Corrado"

    So,

Davey and I replace the coolant resevoir on my corrado about 1.5 months ago. All seemed well and the car was parked for about 3 weeks, maybe driven once or twice. went to start and the car after that approx 3 weeks and temp light was flashing. popped hood and found that the coolant resevoir was empty, brake fluid level good, p/s level good, so figured possibly air pocket, filled res and off I went. Drove car for approx 2 weeks every second day or so and no issue with temp light or coolant level. So put winters on and jacked up coils and hoisted car to check for anything obvious before winter time. Found a little bit of wetness on the power steering pump but nothing to be to concerned about. oil leaks that were previously fixed with Dave holding strong. great. So, week before last, parked the MKV for good, drove corrado for 4 days then went to san diego for a blistering cold 25-30 degree week, all cool. came home sunday night, fired up the car for work monday morning and temp light flashing again. rolled car back and found quite a large, slightly oily patch under the 'rado and coolant resevoir empty again. popped hood, filled resevoir and scoped out for leaks, nothing to obvious from top of engine. Finally... got to work this morning and got a phone call from the GF saying I left a nice line out of the parking lot, checked under the car for a leak once the sun cam up and MAN, there she is a nice constant blue drip (oily) and a steadily growing puddle. damn. Here's to hoping for the best, but it's hard to get a honda guy to look at a VW for ya, so I may be having a tow to Paul or The boys at tune-dub. Might be looking for a slightly more reliable winter car...

easy fix man, either the coolant return pipe(crack pipe) or the thermostat housing I would bet if its leaking from near or on the block. I'd bet a semi functioning door handle on it. Its about an hour fix at most, and the parts are like 50 bucks.
