glow plug light flashing

Last night accelerating from a light and shifting to 3rd my glow plug light started flashing. Had the same issue a month ago. Which was "coolant temp sensor caused glow plug malfunction" and burnt fuse in cruise control circuit. Haven't been able to scan it yet or check the fuse. BTW, glow plugs were replaced a year ago.

check your tail lights/brake lights. malfunction will trigger glow plug lights (ie: if brake lights get stuck on due to faulty/poorly installed brake light switch)

Brake light switch was replaced when VW recalled it a few years back. Could it have gone bad again?

probably not.. but there is a likelihood of it being put in wrong. My recall replacement wasn't in right from dealer, and as I understood, this wasn't all that uncommon. I ended up getting another switch anyways and putting it in myself. They are a little fussy. When I went to take the one that the dealer put in, it clicked in to place (it hadn't seated properly before). I already had the new switch in hand, so I just swapped it out anyways.
When my plug light was on, I got out of my car and looked at the back, and the break lights were all light up. kicked the pedal a few times, and they went off for a while again.

I had the same flashing light. it was a bad LED in the third brake light in my Jetta Wagon. Replaced the whole strip and the problem went away.

interesting. wouldn't have though those little guys would case a fault. good to know.

would blowing a fuse in the cruise cause the flashing light. I have read somewhere on Vortex that that is the only way to show an electrical fault of some kind without doing a vag-com scan.

check all the break bulbs, including led's in back window first.
Strange that you blew a fuse in the cruise... but I dont think that relates to your glow plug light.

in my mk2 diesel, the manual that came with the car says that there is water in the diesel when the glow plug light is flashing.

the glow plug light flashes when the check engine light comes on in my car

may be a backup/redundancy thing so you check the trouble codes

There is no CEL and I am still waiting for my VAGcable so as I can do a scan.

You have the diesel power tuning box, its related to that. I had the same problem when the box was turned on to high.

Check out post #4 and you will see the same problem with the evry mod as you had with the box.
The fix is simple, dial the box back a little, or live with the light.

or get a better chip for your car . ....... your performance software should never do that . i think its your brake lights .

What is the REVO like for the ALH? How much with the SPS?

OK it was fuse #43: Engine Control Elements. Put a new 10A fuse and turned down the TB a couple clicks. Will see how this works.
