My 97 GLX is having a few problems.... When I turn my car off the dash now goes dead (the clock turns off) and the needles don't move back to zero, the vacuum pump used to open or lock all the doors does not work. I am also having problems with the car alarm going off when I re-enter the car, if I manually lock my drivers door with the key and then open the door and try to start the car the alarm goes off.

Does this sound like a dieing battery? If I reset the alarm (remove the battery connections) the car seems to start fine.

Why not bring the battery somewhere and get it tested for free?

Who will test it for free?

I am starting to think that it is not the battery and more likely something to do with wiring. I had this problem like 3 or 4 years ago where I was getting a short in the door jam wiring which was causing crazy problems.

Canadian Tire does free battery testing. Just drop it off and come back a couple hours later. It's easy and there are a load of places to drop one off.
