  • Coolant leak - where From ?

    Hey all

Ive got a slow coolant leak on the driver side practically right behind the front wheel. Anyone know of any weak spots or common faults in this area that i can go looking for?

    Thanks
    Eric

The trans is on that side so your guess is as good as mine... You should bring it in Eric and let me have a boo at it.

its a manual and its not got a block heater i dont think, its got me puzzled as well, there is a chance its dripping off there from running down elsewhere but i dont have axle stands etc yet so i cant get under it.

coolant flange on the side of the head, radiator, secondary coolant pump? might be leaking and trickling down the belly and then side pan, then down the control arm to behind your wheel.

I call the aux coolant pump. Pretty common on VR6's.

Re: Coolant leak - where From ?

OK, finally I got time to look at it in the daylight and it is running down the front of the engine behind the starter motor, tracking along the side a bit and falling off. I think it is coming out of a hose or joint on the side of the engine that houses what i think will be the coolant temperature sensor.

See attached photo for a rough piccy of the 3 way connection. the big thing on the right is the airbox, the fitting is pretty much across from where the side pipe enters the airbox. hopefully is only a small job.

                      Any history of leaking here??
