Re: Diesel Power Tuning Box
I tend to totally agree with that statement. All they do is tweak signals that should not be touched. An ecu gets a whole picture of what the engine is doing at any time and can use its mapping accordingly, a tuning box only gets a limited view of everything. It is like looking out a prison cell and thinking you see the whole world where really you are not seeing much at all.Name: Brent

Re: Diesel Power Tuning Box
Well I have used both boxes, not together and have not minded them. I don't think the TPC box would benefit you without a turbo upgrade though, so don't even bother there.
The Diesel power tuning box essentially changes the fueling for your ALH engine and so you will get more power, but also more smoke.
The TPC box essentially just works with the boost and acts like a 3 or more Bar Map sensor.
I bought the Diesel box because it was cheap, $200 which 3 years ago was a lot cheaper then a tune and provided me with more power. I eventually got an Upsolute Stage 2 chip used for $200 USD and just pulled the box and sold it for what I paid.
The TPC box I got with my current TDi and I still use it because my tune is not setup for the big turbo I am running. The chip I found for $300 and was a rocket chip stage 4, and was able to sell the ecu in my car for $300. The TPC box just allows me to achieve and hold a 25 PSI boost as that is what my turbo is designed to handle. Now if I could get rocket chip up here to tune the chip properly I would pull the TPC in a heart beat. But until then I have not put any more money then what came with the car in terms of tuning. I also should mention that I run a boost gauge and a boost valve so I am constantly monitoring the turbo and what it is getting.
If money is an issue check up the EVRY mod and a 3 bar map sensor, cheap way to get a little more from your car. It won't be the same quality as a $400+ tune, but you get what you pay for.
