yip its true, our angel eyes aren't fibre optic. they're more of a the poor-man's version. they're a piece of plastic bent in a circle, with slits cut in them every couple milimeters to refract the light. and then you put an LED on each end of the plastic.

you can't see them at night time, but for less than $200 canadian compared to more than $300 USD. I think its worth it. thats just me.

              Angel Eyes

Wow, I didn't even know this forum existed, looks like a pretty good forum! I try to keep up with all the online goodies available for VAG, but it seems you guys slipped right by me. Thanks to Smartie to introducing me to the forum.

Let me give you a little run down about our Fiber Optic Angel Eyes real quickly, and dispel any rumors etc that might be circulating. First of all, yes, they are more expensive than the home made LED kits, but you get what you pay for. If all you are looking for is a DIY quality, relatively visible kit, do not get the TS kits, as they are show quality, highly visible kits, and are even visible during the day!

The TS kits are derived from the highly succesful JP kits that were highly successful for the E36 and E46 BMWs. The light box/ballast is a custom fabricated and milled medical sourced halogen solution. The rings themselves are poly injection molded rings that are not bent plastic curtain rods. They were machine injection and molded for this specific purpose.

The main problem with the LED kits is the lack of visibility with the headlights on or during the day, and also the tendency for the units to melt as a result of the encapsulated LEDs. There have been a few individuals all but run off of Vortex for completely ignoring people who purchased their kits and had them melt on them. The Torquesteer lights on the other hand, have a lifetime guarentee backed by JP and Torquesteer Inc, if you have any problems whatsoever (except normal stuff, like bulbs going out, or problems that you yourself cause) then we will take care of it!

Here are some pictures to wet your appetite!

The kits have to be seen in person to do them justice. We chose to have them custom designed by JP as a result of their 10s of thousands of succesful applications for the BMW.

Now in terms of pricing. Unfortunately, most likely I probably worded my email wrong to Nick, and the miscommunication ensued in regards to the pricing. But you guys are in luck, I will match that price, without shipping included, which will be $10 as long as you live in Canada, US, or Mexico, as long as you can get 5 people.

That is $285 shipped including the Euroswitch, which is $40. This is a $65 discount on the package. Any questions or comments can be directed to me personally (eugene@torquesteer.com).

Thanks to everyone for their interest!

My bad, the email was a little unclear, it was 275 plus 10 shipping, so 285, I get it now.

Also, thanks to Eugene for giving us his speech on the angel eye kits, I myself am quite sure I am going to buy a set.

This is their main thread on the vortex concerning the kits, from what I can tell everyone who has bought a kit has been totally satisfied.

Yes, I haven't had one complaint at all so far!

If you guys want more threads about our eyes, just search for angel eyes on vortex, and there are many a happy customers who have posted pictures and reviews of the kits...here are a couple...

                  http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=982190

                  Hope that helps!

One thing I did want to add though as well is that the group buy is for the clear kits. If you would like the blue kits, I can still honor them in the group buy, but the blue kits are on hold indefinitely until we can get our supplier to make more blue rings, the date for this is not known at this time. Thanks for your interest!

sorry i f'd up my post, the angel eyes that I have you can ONLY see during the night time. (or dusk).

they're a DIY kit thats why they're so cheap, if you want high quality, you have to spend lots of money thus you have to get the fibre optics kit from torquesteer.

Actually you could conceivably get any color you wanted out of the kit using filters. The blue kit has a hued ring, which makes it look "hyperwhite". You could get red or purple just by changing the filter of the clear kit, which is why they are more popular. You have more options in terms of range of color with the clear kits.

Not a problem at all, I just wanted to make sure everyone knew about the background and quality of the kit.

The other kits can't hold us :whipped: :yahhh: :mrlaugh:
