  • Drop spindles for a MKIII?

    Hi all,

I know I can find them for a MKIV from h2sport. I was just wondering if anyone's come across them for a MKIII. I'd like to lower the car and not sacrifice performance in extreme cornering (which I've never been known to do )

Maybe this is a NOOB comment, but wouldn't lowering your car increase cornering performance?

Lowering your car gives you the appearance of improved performance, usually because a lowered suspension has stiffer springs. However, because when you lower the car, your control arms go from being either horizontal or slightly angled down (from the subframe to the ball joint) to angled up.

The impact of this isn't noticed until you actually corner. What you notice is that the body of the car rolls much more aggressively, much more quickly than a stock-setup height. The lower you go, the more you are impacted.

this is largely due to the coilover/single control arm design and how it affects camber when you turn the wheels. If you had a true dual control-arm setup, they would both go up and down during cornering, but the camber of your wheel would change little as both control arms move up and down in unison.

There's a huge discussion on the tex about it. I'll dig it up later. If you don't drive hard into corners, then you probably won't be overly affected by lowering you car.
