Drove one tonight.

It was basically a bare bones version... not many options. And they wanted something like $45k.

Way too expensive. I think they are marking them up quite a lot at the stealership.

Kind of narrow in the back hatch compared to other small SUV's in its class.

The one I'm looking at has the 2.0T FSI just like the GTI with 4motion, ESP, traction control, etc. Basically everything except the $3500 NAV option.

how big is it inside/out i've yet to see one? like a CRV in size?

Yes they are about the same size as the CRV but as noted they are way way over priced for what you get (by at least $10K)

You can't compare a VW to asian crap. This will be my 4th VW and each one has outlasted any other import.

All of the options that really raise the price of the tiguan are standard on a lot of the other mini SUV's too.

Seriously the Tiguan price point is crazy though, its competitors are mostly 2/3 the price.

If you are shopping it against luxury brands then I think it also doesn't hold up very well vs the likes of Acura, Infiniti, etc.

Yea, I seem to recall even the prices at the Auto show were still no where near 45k.

Correct, the initial release prices were supposed to be lower...but I think VW realized that they have a somewhat fuel-efficient SUV and decided to jack the prices. No way I'd spend that kind of coin for a compact...like Chris posted, you can find 2 or 3 year old Cayenne's with LOW miles for mid 40's.

Now, if they brought the TDI over here, THAT would be a different story...and worth the extra money

They jacked the prices a LOT.

I priced out the EXACT Tiguan from 5th ave at 32,575$ And they told me over $45K for it.

Not sure where you are getting this 45k from, but a loaded Tiguan (Highline) with everything you can put on it including navi and a tow package is less than 45k. Is your dealer marking them up or something?
