  • Seats wearing out!!!!!!

On my 03 the rear seats are getting holes in the leather from folding them down!!
I saw Northland today about it and apparantly quite a few have come back with the same issue. They are going to replace my seats but not until they can find out whats causing it.

So maybe I can work my way into a set of leather sports.

    Anyone else having this issue??

right up by the headrests in the middle of the car basically and they are rubbing when they fold down.
I phoned VW canada too to complain even though Northland handled it very professionally I just want it on record so I am guaranteed new seats. PS my wear and tear is almost out cuz I have 11,xxx on now so I wanted to show them so they can't deny me.

I think all seats rub when the are folded along the top, near the headrests. Seems to be just bad design, I had marks on my velour on my 2001, but the 337 has never had the seats folded so not sure there

I made a poll on vortex so I'm going to keep bumping it for a few days and maybe even show northland the results to tell VW canada

I don't fold mine down much because it looked like it wouldn't be good for the leather.

Just checked my seats last night. I don't have significant wear but I can definately see where the wear is happening. I guess the top of the seat back rubs along the metal frame underneath the seat cushion. Just bad design.

                  yup
neil if you want to please visit northland and complain and show them.. a bunch of people already have so if we get more the better.. plus you will get new rear seats so you will win.. especially if your car is an 03 which it is.. they were very apologetic to me about it..

Why change your seats??? If this problem is a DESIGN issue... sure you will get a nicer looking seat for a few weeks/months more... but the holes/tear will still come back. It's a DESIGN problem -- not a... "leather sucks ass problem" -- what a waste of time and/or money.

I could fucking care less if there's a hole in my leather... I'm not having another cow die for a poorly designed seat system.

Without a registered complaint they probably won't make any design changes. All it takes is some plastic tabs to act as rub strips on the top on the seat back.

I don't care about the design problem peter but now i know there is one I will cover the bottoms with tape or something slippery so they won't **** up again.. i agree its a huge waste of my time their time and their money since the hole is like 1/4"wide and 2-3" long but whatever it takes to keep me as a customer they are going to have to do.. and since I phoned VW canada I am definetely getting new ones in the back.

They will not do anything to the design since MKVs are on the horizon.
