Mk4 Jetta GLS?

Hey guys my dad is looking at buying an mk4 Jetta GLS. I don't know much about the mk4 jetta's and there engines that they come in. Can you guys just give me some tips about the different models and and what GLS really stands for, I'm just confused and whats the difference between GLS and GLI?

If I remember correctly, the models (in increasing value of trim) are GL, then GLX, then GLS and finally GLI. The GLI is basically the "tricked out" version of the other three however, I'll leave it to someone here that actually owns a Jetta to give you the full enchalada!

Deuce the trim levels for MKIVs goes GL, GLS, GLX
GL come with a 2.0L, and then other options such as winter package(heated seats), sunroof, comfort package(power windows/locks)
GLS come with (I think) either a 2.0L or 1.8T, with some standard packages such as the comfort package.
GLX should have the VR6 engine and again some standard packages.
GLI came with either the VR6 or 1.8T but had the O2M tranny (6 speed as a standard, not option)

I'm not 100% on the package info but the trim levels are correct.
