Thats pretty cheap considering what you are importing.
Im not a big fan of the MKV. The MKIV's are much better looking.

I'd say $20k to $35k (ie. "All-In" Price) is what you're looking at, with the majority in the $25k area. As per any used car buying experience... it really comes down to what condition of MK4 you're interested in.

So... if you want something that's been modded (and usually not tastefully), redlined on a daily basis and is about to roll over the 100,000 mile mark... then yeah... you can most likely get one for under $20k all in.

Otherwise... pay a little more and get something that will actually last you more than 6 months!

Couldn't have said it better myself. When I was in Arizona I took a look at 2 cars that seemed like smokin' deals, but when I saw them in person I realized why they were so cheap. Totally bagged and put away wet.

Ive had the total opposite luck, Ive gone down 3 times and the behicles ive purchased ended up being way better then I thought they would be, other then a CV shaft in the Jetta everything I have picked up has been flawless, and at about 1/3 the price of anything local.

                Isn't the A3 3.2 essentially an R32 with 2 more doors?

They looks to be about the same price too.

But... if you think an Audi A3 is basically the same as a MKIV R32... you gots a lot to learn about cars.

For example... I would strongly argue that although a BMW 135i is basically a BMW 335i with a smaller back seat... you can't honestly tell me that these are essentially "the same" cars? Really?

Let me just close by saying there's a little more to a car than just the engine... and the doors.

                    Deuce out.

well they are the exact same platform, same engine, same 4 wheel drive system........... same brakes? i am sure there are a lot of other differences too though.

A3 is quattro though is it not? I thought it was anyway. The R32 is Haldex which is = to MK1 TT.

yea deuce i agree.. the r32 would have wayy better suspension and sportiness for sure better brakes.. interior might not have some of the niceness the a3 would have tho

jason.. its haldex in the A3 i beleive i could be wrong.. audi sells it as 'quattro'
the new TT i think is still haldex (bill chime in here??)
once again i could be wrong.. i don't follow them that much as i do the 4,6's

i know on the new passats its haldex but on the b5/5.5s it was torsen quattro.. go figure lol

With the transverse engines its haldex. Audi just calls all of its awd vehicles quattro (as in the TT and A3 3.2 s-line).

So really, the A3 3.2 S-Line is a heavier not as sporty version of the .:R32

Both are sweet, I myself would prefer a 5-door .:R32 like how Europe gets...

                                Hey guys,

Yeah it's a new little shop car. Very fun, I'd highly recommend it, although it could use a bit more power. The importation couldn't have been easier, It took me less than an hour to cross the border (both sides).

I had a bit of trouble finding a dealer that was "Canadian friendly", but after some phone calls the dealer I found was awesome. Seems they are having a bit of trouble selling gas-guzzling 6 cyl hatchbacks at the moment...
