Hey i might be buying a 94 golf but the crank pulley has been sheared off I was wondering if anyone has or can get a price on a new crank.
thanks Jordan
Is it a diesel? I have heard of the problem on the diesels and it usually called for a rebuild or new motor.
Name: Brent

Fun car: '92 Blue Karmann Crabby Cabby Mods: Coils, front and rear swaybars, LED interior lights and some other old things.
These IDI diesel's are interference engines, so with the crank pully sheared off your pistons and valves have had a party. IE they have been banged together and more then likely something is broken somewhere in the engine.
The problem is a common one in these engines, has to do with VW updating the harmonic balancer to a heavier one, but not making the crank any stronger to hold it. A stupid engineering problem that can only be fixed with either a new TDI Crank, or a bunch of machining. Its been awhile since I have read about the problem, but www.vwdiesel.net has more information about this if you like to read.
Not the news you were hoping for I assume, but look around for a new head, or new engine and fix the crank problem before putting it in.
