  • A different type of build thread

Since everyone has been starting build threads I thought I might as well start one on what I have been up too. I have been collecting bit and pieces to renovate the whole setup inside the Eurovan. So far my shopping list includes: 2way alarm/starter, DVD player with nav, 2 amplifiers for a total of 800watts, 3way front speakers and 5-1/4 rear coaxials, 10" DVC sub and a bunch of custom wiring. So far I have gutted most of the van and laid out most of the wiring. The front doors have also been modified for the 6-1/2 woofers. Alarm should be installed by the end of the week. Next on the list is to build the amp rack, finish all the deck wiring and build custom speaker mounts in the dash for the 4" mids and tweeters. My goal is to have everything finished, except for the custom fiberglass sub box, done for the end of season VW show. I will post some progress pics later today.
Edit: Some early pics because most of the work I am doing now is the alarm install and I am doing it in my normal anal fashion so all the wires now look stock.
    Here is Daddy's little helper:

What your dash usually looks like after someone broke into your car:

What your interior looks like after some idiot striped it all out. Sure to inpress the wife with this one:

And the van itself with the winter rims still on it:

I will post some more pics this weekend when the alarm is done and the door panels go back on.

Well after countless hours, a couple runs to Princess Auto for relays, the alarm and DVD player are installed. The door locks where a pain to figure out due to limited documentation but they are done now and the remote start also worked first time which was a nice bonus.

And I have one hell of a mess in the van:

Now to build the amp rack, finish the wiring, install the door speakers, build the dash speaker covers and mounts, build the rear speaker mounts and build the sub enclosure. So yes it could be awhile.

Looking good, and that cleanup doesn't look so bad just do what I used to do, take the tools out of the mess and get a wide shop vac hose
