  • trolley jacks where to get a low profile one

    Hi all,

can anyone recommend where to get a lower standing trolley jack from? the GF bought me a jack from cambodia tired and its a 3 ton unit that is deffo too high to get under the lowered gti so i was wondering if you can get lower profile ones (probably less weight rated as well) if there is one out there ill take this one back.

Anyone have one or recommend where to get one pls ?????????

    cheers
    Eric..

I use a big 3-ton jack as well. First drive the car onto 2x4's and then jack it up...problemo solved .

Costco sells 3 ton low profile jacks. I picked one up when they had it on sale ($15) but it is only about $75 bucks. It is a Torin black jack low profile 3 ton jack. Here is a picture but the one that Costco sells is red but identical.

      Works great. Really pleased.

Even that low pro one looks high at the back, high enough not to fit under my skirts anyway. Rather than risk getting it and it not being good enough I think ill swallow my pride and use the embarrassingly obvious solution of 2x4's

              cheers all.

what if you put the low pro jack under there and put a 2x4 on the jack pad (or whatever fits) so that you don't trash your skirts.

because of your car i went and bought 2 of those big red jacks about 3 inches high.they work great. 14.99 at canadien tire.

                    cheaper than wood.

princess auto. they are cheap and amazing. just ask for the aluminum race jack. its like $120 and worth every penny. 2x4's are too much clowning around. having a low profile is soooooo much easier.

a must have for any VW enthusiest is the factory jack from a 82-93ish camaro or trans am, I lent mine to a friend many moons ago and it is gone forever, but the jack is awesome for low cars, especially with side skirts. wouldnt use it as my main jack in a shop or anything but man for the amount of times most of us jack our cars up, it would last forever

I have the Princess Auto Alu Jack. They are all the same, repackaged and repainted. Like Andrew said, no need to mess around with 2x4's.
