  • 1.8t GT28RS

Hey guys, I have been researching big turbo for quite a while now, and I have decided to go with a GT28RS, Not in the mood to go with APR as I already have unitronic tunning and a very helpful dealer... das auto haus.
I just want to know what kits anyone else is running.. how they run and just general impressions to send me in the right direction,
    thanks guys.

aweomse turbo. It was designed orignally to run on the 1.8L miata motor so its spec'd well for your similar application.

I HAD one on my past A4... It was lots of fun!! I htink the car is somewhere in Edmonton now....

Although you may not feel that APR's price is reasonable... (and I dont know much about Unitronics drivability) but the programming is TOP NOTCH. It is really 'get in and drive' software...

You need to speak to Chris @ Das Auto Haus. I have his old GTi with the 28 eliminator kit running Unitronic software and i love it (who doesn't love speed?!?!?). It's not a 0-60 car, although it's def not slow off the line, it's the mid range grunt that's impressive with these things however. Never have to change out of 5th on the highway, it's always ready to go. Torque steer is practically none existant for a 280ish hp front wheel driver and as a huge bonus, there's plenty more in it if i decide to do the internals. Right now its probably only fulfilling half of its potential. It's oh so tempting

I am way out of the loop now but back when I was into it, it seemed like everyone was having better results with the 2871r turbos instead of the 28rs turbos on the 1.8T?

From everything I was reading back then, it was just easier to hit 300 at the wheels on the 2871r with lower boost and less heat. No need to go beyond that on FWD imo...

ATP sells an eliminator version too, I would rock that.

300 is alot of power, i would like to run around 280 daily, with a reasonable spool... I like the idea, and will def have to chat with chris

After talking with chris at das auto, I decided to stay stock turbo as it is still running solid for now... but, will do a fmic, and all mounts so I can go big in the future

It seemed to good to be true, I will consider it an expensive lesson if i cant get them to work
