  • Car Doesn't Pull!

I searched Vortex and Here but I need to ask anyways.

I was driving home today and tried passing a very slow moving vehicle on the road so that I could get into the exit lane.

I was in first, then shifted into 2nd at about 4000 RPM, it felt horrible... like i actually shifted into 4th or 5th....

This has happened to me a few times and is becoming more of a frequent event. It feels like I missed a gear but I know I didn't. I wonder if this is limp? Maybe my Short Ram Cone filter needs to be cleaned or greased?

I don't feel the power of the 93 octane APR chip as I first did, however I am still boosting to 20psi and holding at 15psi. No CEL or any other indications.

I don't have vag com so I can't check if there is anything going on, I should probably get one though....

EDIT: 2002 GTI 1.8T, 76,000 km always maintained and cared for, APR TBE, running with the 93 Octane program, stock and 91 also available... maybe I should switch?

    Any suggestions?

I'm not going to buy your car, but nice plug.

Yeah as far as I know its a stock shifter.
It could have been heat soak but I doubt it.... was sitting in the sun all day long. I'll take it for a rip in a bit.

        I've said it before...

Do not mod a turbo car without a boost gauge.

Sorry I guess I misread from the part:

I wonder if this is limp?

Which would be obvious with a gauge.

                Re: Car Doesn't Pull!

Switch to 91 program. Check plugs. You might be pulling timing enough to feel it.

Yeah, I bought the intake in october so it has been a while. No water gets in it though.

Could an over tightened timing belt cause this? I believe the shop i took mine to when they replaced it tightened it too much.

I'll switch the program, and if that doesn't work I will switch to my stock airbox.

Thanks for the suggestions, keep'em coming!

Well it's not loose. George noticed it was actually a little too tight. I am going to try the different programs tonight to see if it makes a difference.
