  • Door squeaks and warranty

ok first, i'd like to say i have had 2 services done on my car. first by northland, second by 5th ave. now, i like'd northland better, primarily since they go the extra mile, lube everything, wash, etc etc. 5th ave, they skip out, for example, they didn't do my water separator, in the book it says it should be done, they said it doesnt, in either case, i trust the book more than them. my third service i was thinking scfc but not anymore, because i went there today inquiring about getting my door hinges lubed. some new young girl works there, she said, "ummmm, that will be .3 hours labor charge, its not warranty, unless they're defective." so i left. i decided to drive to northland to see what they say. i talked with a gentlemen named randy, nice guy. he laughed when i told him what happened at scfc, and said its warranty, i'm scheduled for next wednesday. saved myself $35.

For me so far, Northland has been great to deal with.... They did alot of stuff for me, and went out of their way. It really seems like it's a stab in the dark as to who to go to sometimes.

I have to book for my 32k service this week. The thing is.... will they be willing to look at my door rattles? My door rattles like crazy when I drive. It's really annoying, and seems to be getting worse. I just have to turn my stereo louder :(
Sidewalks are for normal walkin.... aint no room for fancy walkin....

Yea My buddy bought his Jetta at SCFC, when he took it in for service he casually mentioned "my hinges are squeeking a bit, do you think you could put something on that?" When he got his bill they charged him $20 a side!! I couldn't believe that!

I took my car back (with no appointment) because of a squeaky door, and they took it out, test drove it, brought it in and adjusted the door latch 3 times (test drive, adjust, etc) before it was good. Mind you, this was above and beyond a normal creak/rattle.

For that they get my business unless they really screw up bad.

Yeah I've gotten a few minor adjustments like doors and rattles at SCFC for free, I also got a free alignment when I lowered it which was nice, I've had great experiences with them.

I need to get my hood latch adjusted next time because its beginning to piss me off.

I have had mostly good experiences with Northland, I find that they are willing to go the extra mile, eventhough I have to keep coming back for door/ window rattles on the driver and passenger side which is a real piss off, anyone know how to permenently fix this?

actually when i went to NL i told them not to wash or vacuum my car.. most dealers always wash your car but for your first say 3 visits they always vacuum and go that extra step for you because they want you to come back.. i requested none of that and they were happy with me
