  • Cleaning the Recaro's

Well i just got back from a weekend trip to Vancouver with 4 people in my car, and it sure took it's toll on my seats. I have a Junior Mint mashed into my rear Recaro seats (luckily it's on a part of the seat you don't see, it fell down the back) - but it's really really mashed in there. Also, my seats need a serious delinting.

So... any ideas on how to get out the chocolate/mint or to de-lint my seats?

This is when I wish I still had leather.

That's why you don't let people sit in the back of your car lol. At least you can supervise the people in the passenger side.

Bill, I use a lint roller on mine. Takes a long bloody time but it's effective.

As far as JM's are concerned, there's this aerosal nitrogen stuff you can get that you can use to freeze various messes (gum etc) from surfaces and then chip away at it. Might be your best bet. I'm sure they have it at Home Depot or Canadian Tire.

        Good luck! :urspecial

I would have to see the mess before I would suggest anything... you can get foaming shampoos that sometimes work, you let them dry then vaccuum them off the cloth... but you don't want to do anything that will hurt the seats...

Oh those poor recaros, you allowed someone in the back seat and with candy too:( Yeah not sure how bad the mess is but lint rollers or brushes are must haves. At least Junior Mints are very refreshing!!

Yep. Works like a charm. I found that if the gloves are brand new, they kind of have this white powdery finish on them that can leave some marks on the seats. Wipes right off, but its a pain.

Yeah... I've always believed that cars are for using and not just looking at so that explains my willingness to use the back seats and allow eating (even though I was like "get anything on the seats and you die")... however there is a new rule now... no chocolate.

So I bought some Turtle Wax Power Out upholstery cleaner... the one with the little scrubber brush on the end. Actually it worked very well. Didn't change the appearance of the fabric at all and appears to have gotten all of the chocolate out. I just blotted the remaining cleanser out with a cloth and it's lookin' good. I'll have to check it out later today to make sure it's still all good and smells ok.

I used a sticky lint roller on the seats... works pretty well. I'd say my back seats look as good now as they did before.

... but I won't be doing a road trip with 4 people in my car again soon... but one day.

PS: I'll make a post about the trip as soon as I get all my pics together and sorted out.

sounds good bill.. my rule of thumb is that I will let people drink slush or pop in my car but no food.. no smoking either.. oh and if they spill then they get punched in the head
